Councillor Training
From October 2019 all newly and re-elected Councillors are required to complete Council Member Essentials.
The Shire of Beverley utilises WALGA’s Council Member Essentials which encompasses all five of the required training courses. This training has been specifically developed to deliver the essential skills and knowledge required by an Elected Member to perform their role as defined in the Local Government Act 1995.
The five courses are:
Understanding Local Government;
Conflicts of Interest;
Serving on Council;
Understanding Financial Reports and Budgets; and
Meeting Procedures.
